Green Links Las Vegas

Posted by Mark Clawson

Let’s start this weeks, Green Links Las Vegas, with some optimistic views of the future. “There is enough energy stored beneath the earth’s surface to power all of our energy demands thousands of times over.” This comment is from Ruediger Matthes writing for CleanTecnica. You can read his “what if scenario” by clicking here and learning about Geothermal Energy. Be sure to view the videos in his article.

Here is a useful, money saving, green link provided by the Southern Nevada Water Authority. You can find coupons for water smart car washes on this site. Washing your car doesn’t have to drain our water resources. If you use a Water Smart Car Wash, the water is recycled on-site or sent to a water treatment facility where it is treated and sent back to Lake Mead. Get your coupons by clicking here.

Brian Merchant writing for treehugger has some interesting statistics on how much water is used producing products that we buy everyday. A bit of a wakeup call!

Why is it so important to buy local and organic products? Timothy J. LaSale explains carbon footprints and other issues that we need to consider. Being good stewards of our planet requires specific actions; we can’t continue to live our lives as we have in the past. Here is his post from treehugger.

A couple of weeks ago I had a green link to Pig Power; now chicken feathers? That’s right, there is a new technology using chicken feathers. Hydrogen fuel tanks made from chicken feathers could save millions. Here is the story from CleanTechnica and writer Brian Nelson. Innovation in the world is truly amazing!
